Maestro Rafael Bullumba Landestoy |
Maestro "Bullumba" has numerous worldwide successes in the rhythms of the bolero, merengue, guaracha, and classical music. His compositions have been performed by musicians of international recognition as Toña La Negra, Fernando Fernández, Celia Cruz, Alberto Beltrán, Vicentico Valdés, Rafael Solano, among others. His legacy is imbedded in the musical history of the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Mexico, this last country mentioned is where his songs were interpreted in films of the golden age of Mexican cinema.
Among the attractions of the show we will feature a participation of a Latin singer performing a classic bolero composed by Bullumba to jazz bossa nova standards. Rafelito Mirabal & Sistema Temperado will play his latest musical creations for the first time in Miami. The event is a unique show because the nephew of Bullumba and producer of the event, Peter Landestoy, will bring Bullumba’s classical piano & guitar compositions to modern jazz standards, thanks to the musical arrangements of Mirabal. This will be a magical night where we will also enjoy a choreography produced by Massiel Olmos, Cultural & Artistic Representative of the OPT office in Miami performed by contemporary dancer Laura Rosguer.
The South Florida Dominican Jazz Fest has positioned itself as the only event of Dominican culture that during Hispanic Heritage Month
opens its doors to other cultures to display the musical talent from the Caribbean nation and raise it along with other leading International Jazz artists from around the world.
