THERE SHE IS … MISS MIAMI BEACH GAY PRIDE 2018

MISS MIAMI BEACH GAY PRIDE PAGEANT FUNDRAISER

TO TAKE PLACE AT THE GLAMOROUS FAENA THEATER on APRIL 2nd

It's that time again, when Miami Beach's talented, prettiest and fiercest "Queens" put it all on the line for the "T'' – the tiara that is! A new Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride will be crowned to rule the LGBTQ kingdom, friends and allies on Monday, April 2nd at the 6th Annual Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride Pageant, benefitting Miami Beach Gay Pride. This year, the Pageant moves to glamourous new digs at the Faena Theater, 3201 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach. The curtain goes up on the Stella Rosa Red Carpet Champagne Reception at 7:30 p.m., hosted by Kitty Meow aka Shawn Palacious, and the Pageant starts promptly at 9 p.m.

Hosted by Peter J. Morales, Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2013 Tiffany T. Fantasia and Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2015 Athena Dion, the Pageant will mesmerize guests as the who's who of the drag world take to the stage serving face, body and brains to compete for the 2018 Miami Beach Gay Pride crown being passed down from the reigning Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride, Joanna James. Special guest performances during the evening will include Joanna James, Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2016 Kalah Mendoza, Athena Dion, Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2014 Tp Lords, Tiffany T. Fantasia and many more. Keeping things moving to just the right beat will be DJ Sushiman Lords aka Brad Wofford.

"I had no idea winning Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2017 would be this much fun; it has been a fabulous year," said James. "I know I'm going to be a tough act to follow as Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride, so these ladies better bring it!"

Along with being judged for their all-around "fabulocity," Pageant contestants will compete in the categories of Presentation (show your pride), Swimwear, Evening Gown with Questions and Answers, and Talent. Contestant entry fee: $125 (pre-registered) / $175 (Two days prior).

The newly crowned queen will receive the title of Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride 2018, the Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride Crown designed by Joey Rolon from Funky Sexy Couture along with a matching jewelry set of a ring and earrings designed by Michael Egnor from Beauty & Elegance Designs & Tittle, $1,000 in cash and $1,000 in prizes. Included in the prize package are a photo shoot by photographer Dale Stine; an interview on NBC's "6 in the Mix" with Miami Beach Gay Pride's Ally Grand Marshal Roxanne Vargas; and a meet-and-greet photo-op with this year's Pride Marshals at the VIP Gala at the Faena Forum on Friday, April 6th. Then the winner had better sharpen her stilettos because she'll be featured in the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade and be introduced from the Grand Stand Stage; she'll perform at the Main Stage on Sunday, April 8th; and emcee 2019 Miami Beach Gay Pride festivities. She will then represent Miami Beach Gay Pride at events and activities leading up to the 2019 Pride.

Tickets can be purchased at http://missmbgp2018.brownpapertickets.com. Several ticket packages are available at the two-floor venue ranging from a VIP Banquette for four people including a complimentary bottle of Pride's liquor sponsor alcohol for $450, to Second Floor Drink Rail seating or standing for $20 per person. All prices do not include 20% gratuity or any applicable taxes. Early-bird pricing is available on all ticket levels until 24 hours before the event. Must be 21 to purchase tickets.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary year, Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown from a neighborhood event to an event on the global stage with A-list celebrities such as Ross Mathews as Grand Marshal in 2017, Elvis Duran as Grand Marshal in 2016, Mario Lopez as Grand Marshal in 2015, Gloria Estefan as Grand Marshal in 2014, Chaz Bono as Grand Marshal in 2012, Andy Cohen as Grand Marshal in 2011, Sharon Gless and Lt. Dan Choi as Grand Marshals in 2010 and Patti LaBelle and Richie Rich as Grand Marshals in 2009. Billboard chart-toppers have also headlined at Pride, including Bebe Rexha, Jordin Sparks and Adam Lambert.

Over the decade, attendance has grown as well. An estimated 15,000 spectators turned out for the first Pride parade in 2009; an estimated 135,000 attended the event in 2017. In addition to Parade spectators, last April's event included more than 70 parade contingencies, 35 floats and 3,000 participants. The Pride Festival which followed featured more than 100 LGBTQ-friendly vendors and businesses, plus refreshments, two stages of non-stop entertainment, a family-friendly play area and fireworks. Recently, Miami Beach Gay Pride was named one of the "Top 100 Events of the Year" for the fourth year in a row by BizBash Magazine and earned the Pink Flamingo Award as favorite multi-day event for the fifth year in a row.

The 10th Anniversary Miami Beach Gay Pride will be a full week of events, April 2 – 8, and will include the popular Miss Miami Beach Gay Pride drag pageant, an MDGLCC fundraiser, sanctioned dance parties, a Friday VIP Gala, Saturday beach party and festival, and Sunday parade and festival.
